The Embassy of #Russia in #Mexico confirmed the kidnapping of one of its citizens who disappeared while traveling between the northern states of #NuevoLeón and #Tamaulipas.
The diplomatic headquarters issued a statement revealing that their citizen disappeared while traveling with her Mexican friends in a car from #Monterrey to #Reynosa.
It highlights that the Embassy of Russia in Mexico is in contact with local police authorities, as well as with the husband Alexei, of the kidnapped Russian woman. They ensure that they are keeping the situation under constant control.
According to the PRAVDA portal of Russia, the victim is Maria Rigovich, 23 years old, and her husband lost communication with Maria last Thursday, March 14, and on the same day received a request for money through a message to be deposited into a bank account.
Regarding this case, sources from the Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas confirmed that they have initiated investigations and are working in coordination with their counterparts in Nuevo León.
So far, they do not know where the Russian citizen was kidnapped, whether in Monterrey or Tamaulipas territory.
The situation has generated great concern both in Russia and in Mexico, and the embassy is working diligently to monitor and resolve this delicate matter.
