Migrants «Take Over» Streets of Altamira.

ALTAMIRA, TAMPS – Over the past two weeks, approximately 15 Haitian migrants have been identified in the municipality of Altamira, a pivotal city on the route to the United States border. These undocumented migrants have caught the attention of local authorities, prompting the need to provide them with assistance and humanitarian care.

The Altamira DIF System Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the Haitian migrants are in good health. However, in compliance with international rights, they have been provided with medical assistance, food, and temporary shelter. This figure includes 10 minors and 5 women, who have been directed to the National Institute of Migration (INM) to carry out the necessary procedures related to their migratory status and potential repatriation to their home country.

Altamira, a strategic city on the migrants’ path to the United States, has witnessed an increase in the presence of migrants in recent weeks, resulting in heightened attention and humanitarian assistance from local authorities.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure the well-being of these migrants as their individual cases are addressed and measures are taken to address this migration challenge in the region.
